  • Academic Highlights: Margaret has a 3.91 GPA and has the Seal of Biliteracy.   She is a member of Chamber Choir and una voice and is Saint Luke's Episcopal Church Youth Senior Warden.  She is a BigTime Ministries Intern, SGA Senator, and Vice President of Key Club.
  • Where do you see your academic future? I plan to attend either Auburn or Ole Miss next year.
  • Where do you see your athletic future? I plan to play intramural sports in college.
  • Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is History because I enjoy learning about the story behind our country.

  • Mary Russell Wood

    Academic Highlights: Mary Russell is a member of FBLA and Circle of Friends.

    Where do you see your academic future? Unsure yet.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I do not plan on playing golf in college but am interested in participating in club or intramural golf.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is science because I find it interesting.

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Baseball (9th-12th), Football (9th-10th)

    Academic Highlights: John has a 29 on the ACT and a 3.7 GPA.  He is a member of Film Club, Interact, Spanish Honor Society and on the Spartan TV News Team.

    Athletic Highlights: John plays pitcher for baseball.

    Where do you see your academic future?  I want to study sports media production in the future.

    Where do you see your athletic future?  No athletics after high school.

    Favorite Subject: Media Arts.  This is my favorite subject because I enjoy getting to broadcast games, and I am interested in doing media in my future.

    What music do you listen to most?  I listen to Bluegrass and Indie Music.  Some of my favorite bands are Caamp and the Ghost of Paul Revere.

  • Sherrod Wilbanks

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Golf (10th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Sherrod has a 33 on the ACT and a 4.529 GPA.  She is a member of the Interact Club, Justice Club, Mu Alpha Theta and is a Springboarder for GirlSpring.

    Where do you see your academic future? Out of state, not sure yet.

    Where do you see your athletic future? None, will probably keep up with it but not playing in college.

    Favorite Subject: (I don't really have a favorite/changes from year to year but would be) English because I love reading, or Math because I like solving problems.

    What music do you listen to most?  Taylor Swift (daylight, you are in love, the lakes, sweet nothing, etc.), Lana Del Rey, Fleetwood Mac, Mac Miller, Wallows, SZA.

    Academic Highlights: Sam has a 36 on the ACT and a 4.56 GPA.  He is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

    Athletic Highlights: Sam plays the positions Defensive Midfielder and Right Back.

    Where do you see your academic future? I want to go to college, figure out what I want to study, and then go to grad school afterwards.

    Where do you see your athletic future?  I want to play intramural sports in college.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is history because of Dr. Lamar.

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Track and Field (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Livy has a 1500 on the SAT and a 4.53 weighted GPA.  She is an MB Ambassador and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Art Honor Society, National Honor Society and the Interact Club.

    Athletic Highlights: Pole Vaulter, Competed at State 2020, 2022 and 2023.  McGovern Award 2022. 

    Where do you see your academic future? Going to medical school.

    Where do you see your athletic future? Possibly pole vaulting in college.

    Favorite Subject: Science because it interests me.

  • Thomas Norris

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Golf (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Thomas has a 4.27 GPA and a 31 on the ACT.  He is an FBLA Officer, and a member of Key Club, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

    Athletic Highlights: Thomas is a starter on the high school golf team.  He was a part of the State Winning team in 2022.  Also, he has traveled the country playing in individual golf tournaments year round. 

    Where do you see your academic future? I am interested in medicine, business and finance.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I am committed to play golf at Mississippi State University after I graduate.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject in high school is AP Bio because I enjoyed the way Mr. Rogers taught and how personable he is.

    What music do you listen to most?  I like old country music.

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Varsity Tennis (9th-12th), JV Volleyball (10th), Varsity Volleyball (11th)

    Academic Highlights: Ann has a 4.1 GPA.  She is president of the Interact Club and a member of the FBLA Club.

    Athletic Highlights: Tennis - 3 year STATE CHAMP (9th-11th), Team Captain (11th).  JV Volleyball-metro champs, Team Captain (10th), Varsity Volleyball-Final 4 appearance, Breakout Award (11th). 

    Where do you see your academic future? University of Alabama, possibly a business major.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I plan on joining intramural sports in college.  Possibly Tennis and Volleyball.

    Favorite Subject: History.  It's interesting to learn about everything that has happened that has led to our lives today.

  • JK Roberts

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cross Country/Track 9th-12th.  Marching Band 10th-12th.

    Academic Highlights: JK has a 4.59 GPA and a 34 on the ACT.  He is a member of the Key Club, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta, Math Team and an SGA Senator. 

    Athletic Highlights: I'm on Varsity.  Jazz Band-selected as top pianist for Alabama   

    Where do you see your academic future? Maybe Notre Dame or UVA for college.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I might join a collegiate marching band.  I will definitely play some intramural sports.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is Calculus because we have stellar math teachers at this school.

    What music do you listen to most?  My favorite type of music is Funk and Jazz.

    Academic Highlights: Sarah has a 3.9 GPA.  Clubs-Secretary of art club junior year, Social chair of art club senior year, Civitan Club member, Circle of Friends club member.  Honors- a part of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Beta Club member, National Business Honor Society.

    Athletic Highlights:  Sarah plays point guard for the girls varsity basketball team.  Highlights-All Area team (10th, 11th), All South Girls Metro team (10th, 11th), All Over the Mountain team (10th)  

    Where do you see your academic future? I see myself attending the University of Alabama.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I see myself playing for an intramural basketball team at the University of Alabama.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is history because I like learning about interesting stories from the past.

    What music do you listen to most?  I like to listen to Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton, and Tyler Childers.

    Academic Highlights: John has a weighted 4.471 GPA and a 35 on the ACT.  He is also a member of the Childhood Cancer Awareness Club, National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta.

    Favorite Subject: Math because it makes the most sense to me.

  • Harper Lee

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): JV Volleyball (9th & 10th grade); JV & Varsity Indoor & Outdoor Track (10th-12th grade)

    Academic Highlights:  Harper has a 4.36 GPA and a 34 on the ACT.  She is a SGA Senator, MBHS Ambassador, and a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, S[anish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, First Priority, Spanish Club, Circle of Friends, Bigtime Ministries Intern, Brookwood Baptist Youth Group and YoungLife. 

    Athletic Highlights: Volleyball: DS/Libero; Track: Long Jump, 100m, 200m, 4x100 m.  

    Where do you see your academic future? While I don't know exactly where I will attend college, I hope to study nursing in the future.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I don't plan to compete at the next level, but I would love to play intramurals once in college.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is math because there is always a right answer.

    What music do you listen to most?  My favorite artists include: NeedtoBreathe, Mt Joy, Zach Bryan, Brook & the Bluff, and Tyler Childers.

    Sport(s): Varsity Basketball (10th-12th grade)

    Academic Highlights: Carson has a 4.47 GPA.  He has a 32 superscore on the ACT and is co-president of the childhood cancer awareness club.

    Athletic Highlights: Carson plays the position of point guard and shooting guard.  

    Where do you see your academic future? College undecided.

    Favorite Subject: Computer Science - I enjoy coding and learning new algorithms.

    What music do you listen to most?  Favorite artist is Zach Bryan.  Favorite genres are country and classic rock.

  • Elizabeth Sandner

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cross Country/Track (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Elizabeth has a 4.5 GPA.  She is a member of Interact, the Justice Club and the Childhood Cancer Awareness Club.

    Where do you see your academic future? I plan on going to college and then grad school, but I'm not sure where yet.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I plan on just running for fun in college or joining a running group.

    Favorite Subject: I like English best because I like reading and writing has always come easier to me than math.  I like forming an option on a piece of literature and proving it.

    What music do you listen to most? My favorite artists are Taylor Swift and the Lumineers.

  • Sara Katherine Bowman

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cheerleading (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Sara Katherine has a 4.0 GPA and a 28 on the ACT.  She is an MBHS Ambassador, the secretary of Interact, and a member of the Physics Club, FLBA, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and has the Seal of Biliteracy.

    Where do you see your academic future? Unsure yet but I hope to attend somewhere in the south.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I probably won't continue to cheer in college but I hope to keep at least some of my skills up.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is biology because it is a very interesting class and challenges me.

    What music do you listen to most? I listen to lots of country music.

  • Wells Finch

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cross Country, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Wells has a 94.025 academic weighted GPA/91.220 unweighted GPA and a 34 on the ACT.  He has achieved Eagle Scout rank with his Boy Scout Troop and is a member of the Debate Team, Math Team and History Club.

    Athletic Highlights: JV Dragon on the cross country team.

    Where do you see your academic future? Going into law.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I don't plan on running in college.

    Favorite Subject: History because a lot of it is subjective, allowing for a lot of discussion about it.

  • Emma Stearns

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Basketball and Softball (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Emma has a 3.5 GPA and is Vice President of the Civitan Club.

    Athletic Highlights: Basketball: shooting guard, 9th-11th all OTM team, 9th-11th All Area team, 1000 points.  Softball: first base.   

    Where do you see your academic future? Undecided

    Where do you see your athletic future? I hope to play in college.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is business because it is useful and fun.

  • Frederic Maldia

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Boys Varsity Bowling Team (9th-12th grade)

    Academic Highlights: Frederic has a 4.5 GPA and a 34 on the ACT.  He is a member of Spartan 2 News, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, the chess club, the physics club, and is a senator for SGA.  Frederic was voted Homecoming King in 2023.

    Athletic Highlights: Captain of the Varsity Bowling Team, MBHS Most Valuable Bowler, AHSAA Honorable Mention for 6A Bowling.

    Where do you see your academic future? After I graduate from high school, I plan on majoring in Media and Journalism or Film Production.  During my time in college, I hope to study abroad.

    Where do you see your athletic future? Bowling is a great way to socialize and have fun!  While I don't know what college I'll attend, I hope to be part of the bowling community wherever I go.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject in school is Chemistry!  Not only are Mrs. Aust and Mr. Rosenstiel great teachers, but I can always "Gibb them a Holla on the H-FON".  Chemistry is challenging, but rewarding.

    What music do you listen to most? I love a wide variety of music.  Ranging from Warren G's "This DJ" to Pitbull's "Time of our Lives", I listen to many genres.

    Other information you want us to know: Being a part of Spartan 2 News for the last three years, I've had the opportunity to meet countless people in our community and school.  I've come to realize that everyone plays a role in making Mountain Brook High School special.  No matter what college I attend, I will carry the Spartan Spirit with me!

    Academic Highlights: Alice has a 4.0 GPA and a 29 on the ACT.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Spanish Honor Society.

    Athletic Highlights: Alice plays the position of Middle Hitter.  Highlights include 1st team all-state, 1st team all metro, 1st team AL.com Super All-State, Prep Volleyball 2024.  

    Where do you see your academic future? I am going to college but I do not know where yet.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I am not playing volleyball in college.

    Favorite Subject: Math because there is not a lot of memorization besides formulas.

  • Ty Davis

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Basketball (7th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Ty has a 4.2 GPA.  He is also the Childhood Cancer Awareness Club President and a First Priority Officer.

    Athletic Highlights: Ty plays the position of Point Guard.  He was a 6A Player of the Year finalist, 1st team All State, All Area Team/MVP, a member of the Northeast Regional All tournament team and of the Final 4 All Tournament Team.

    Where do you see your academic future? I am going to attend Creighton University.  Planning on becoming a business major and then attending law school.

    Where do you see your athletic future? Going to play at Creighton University next year.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is science, because it is very interesting and I like doing labs.

    What music do you listen to most? I listen to a lot of different music.  Rap, Country, and Christian the most though.

  • Mimi Dorough

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cheerleading (9th grade squad, Junior Varsity squad 10th grade, Varsity football and basketball squad in 11th/12th grade).

    Academic Highlights: Mimi has a 4.086 GPA.  She is an Ambassador for MBHS (11th & 12th) and is a member and Vice President of the Future Business Leaders of America.  She is also a member of the Circle of Friends Club, the Interact Service Club, the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society and First Priority.  She is a coach for cheerleading privates, Mountain Brook and Vestaiva little league cheerleading and a Miss Olympian Pageant staff member.  Mimi was crownded Homecoming Queen for 2023.

    Athletic Highlights: Mimi was awarded best all around cheerleader (10th and 11th grade), best attitude for cheer (11th grade), and UCA all American cheerleader (12th grade) and Captain Junior Varsity basketball cheer (10th grade).

    Where do you see your academic future? Auburn University

    Where do you see your athletic future? I am considering trying out for cheer in college.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is anatomy with Mrs. Elias because I am very interested in the human body, and I am interested in going into exercise science or nutrition.

    What music do you listen to most? I love all types of music.  Recently I have enjoyed Mt. Joy and Chris Stapelton.

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Volleyball (9th-12th grade)

    Academic Highlights: Paige has a 4.3 GPA.  She is a member of FBLA, Circle of Friends, National Honor Society, Beta Club, National Spanish Honor Society and National Math Honor Society.  She is the co-editor of Sword and Shield.

    Athletic Highlights: Paige is an outside hitter/defensive specialist.  2021 State Championship, 2022/2023 JVA watchlist, 2023 AVCA phenom list, 2022 AllSouth Metro Second Team, 2023 AVCA All American watchlist.

    Where do you see your academic future? I plan to go to college for an undergraduate degree, then med school or grad school.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I hope to play volleyball collegiately, or if not, I plan to play intramural.

    Favorite Subject: AP Psych because I want to major in psychology.

    What music do you listen to most? I like all genres.  My favorite band is Coldplay.

  • Mary Katherine Malone

    Academic Highlights: Mary Katherine has a 4.5 GPA and serves as Social Chair of the Physics Club.

    Athletic Highlights: All-State in cross country 10th, 11th grade.  4th in State for the open 800m run.

    Where do you see your academic future? I see myself at Vanderbilt or Auburn, studying to become a veterinarian.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I see myself running for Vanderbilt or playing intramural pickle ball.

    Favorite Subject: History.  Dr. Lamar really made me enjoy it.

    What music do you listen to most? I love Taylor Swift, Mt. Joy or Caamp.

  • Watts Alexander

    Academic Highlights: Watts has a 3.87 GPA and is a First Priority Officer.

    Athletic Highlights: Watts plays on the offensive line for the Mountain Brook Varsity Football Team.

    Favorite Subject: Physics because it's in our everyday life.

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Mountain Brook Volleyball (Grades 9-12) and has also played club volleyball for Alabama Juniors and NASA for 6 years.

    Academic Highlights: Ava has a 4.088 weighted GPA.  She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Interact Service Club Member, FBLA, Circle of Friends.

    Athletic Highlights: Position: Libero/Defensive Specialist. Awards: JVA Watch List (Club Volleyball); AVCA Phenom Watch List (Club Volleyball)

    Where do you see your academic future? I have not decided where I will attend college.

    Where do you see your athletic future? If I do not play volleyball at the college level, I will definitely play at the club or intramural level.

    Favorite Subject: Science and math because I am interested in going into the medical field.

  • William Courtenay

    Academic Highlights: William has a 3.6 GPA and has achieved Eagle Scout.

    Athletic Highlights: Football-Guard, 3 year starter, 2022 Second Team All Region.  Wrestling-4 year starter, Freshman State qualifier, Sophomore State Placer, Junior State tournament 3rd place and part of the Mountain Brook state champion dual team.

    Where do you see your academic future? Auburn University Engineering

    Favorite Subject: Physics because you can directly relate it to the world we live in.

  • Mackenzie Bass

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cheerleading (10th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Mackenzie has a 4.476 GPA and a 33 on the ACT.  She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, National Beta Club, Chemistry Club-current public relations officer, READ Club and is an All In Mountain Brook Representative. 

    Athletic Highlights: All American Cheerleader, Pin-It-Forward Recipient, Cheer Co-Captain

    Where do you see your academic future? After I graduate Mountain Brook, I hope to major in Aerospace Engineering!  I have a love for all things STEM and plan to pursue a career along that path.  If time permits, I plan to minor in gender studies as well.

    Where do you see your athletic future? Cheerleading is such a rewarding sport that is centered around community and excellence.  If I am accepted, I would love to cheer for Duke University.  Duke's cheerleading team is not only focused on their skills and cheers, they take extensive initiative to serve the community around them and uphold the mission of the school as ambassadors.  If I do not attend Duke, I will most likely not cheer in college.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject in school is math because I love learning about the implications of it in further studies and in the real world!  Also, the math department at MBHS and its faculty members are phenomenal!

    What music do you listen to most? I love many genres of music.  Some of my favorite artists include Billie Eilish, Zach Bryant, Tyler Childers, Rhianna, PTX, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Phoebe Bridgers.

    Other information you want us to know:  As a Mountain Brook student, I strive to engage in my community as much as possible.  While searching for a new city and college to call home, I hope to find a community which is filled with opportunity and involvement from its members.  No matter where I land, green & gold will always hold a special place in my heart!

  • Branum Lloyd

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Branum has a 4.5 GPA and a 35 on the ACT.  He is the vice president of SGA and a member of the Spanish Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club and Boy Scouts.

    Athletic Highlights: Voted MVP JV 2021, 100% Award 2022, Team State Champions-Cross Country 2022.

    Where do you see your academic future? I am unsure as to which college I wish to attend, but I am interested in studying Engineering or Architecture.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I hope to get involved in some club level sports.

    Favorite Subject: Chemistry-It is really cool to study the concepts and understand how so much of our world works and then to see it happen in real time.

    What music do you listen to most? Favorite band - Fleetwood Mac.

  • Hannah Parant

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): Varsity Volleyball (9th-12th)

    Academic Highlights: Hannah has a 94.6 GPA.   She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Beta Club, Peer Helpers, FBLA and the Alabama Performance Volleyball Club.

    Athletic Highlights: Hannah has played setter on Varsity all four years.  Awards:  2021&2022 MBHS MVP Varsity Volleyball, 2023 Alabama North All Star Team, 2020-2022 6A All State Team, 2022 AL.com Birmingham Region Player of the Year, 2023 selected to Alabama North All Star team to compete July 2023, 2021-2022 AL.com Super All State Volleyball Team, 2020 AVCA Player of the Week for the State of Alabama, 3000 career assists for Varsity.

    Where do you see your academic future? I want to major in Sports Management and Psychology.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I am committed to play Volleyball at the University of Alabama.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is math because you can always get better at it and it's about understanding concepts rather than memorizing.

    What music do you listen to most? I like Taylor Swift.

    Other information you want us to know: I am excited to play volleyball at the University of Alabama.  I have played since I was 9 and love the team aspect of it along with the challenges.  I also enjoy coaching.  The last few years I have helped at my club with the youth program.

    Academic Highlights: Carter has a 4.35 GPA and a 35 on the ACT.  He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Chemistry Club, Math Team, SGA Senator (10th) and Beta Club.

    Athletic Highlights: I've played on the offensive line throughout high school and currently wrestle in the 190 lb weight class.

    Where do you see your academic future? I'm undecided on where I want to attend college but I want to stay on the East Coast.  I would like to major in Business or Pre Law.

    Where do you see your athletic future? I don't plan on playing for any college athletic teams but would like to be involved in intramural or club sports.

    Favorite Subject: My favorite subject is History because I like learning about how past decisions by countries and leaders influence the state of the world today.

    What music do you listen to most? Classic rock and Jam Bands--Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead.

  • Lucy Benton

    Year: Senior

    Sport(s): I run cross country and track, and have ran on varsity for both since my freshman year.  Eighth grade I got pulled up for cross country state champs.

    Academic Highlights: GPA 4.36, ACT 30.  Clubs--Physics Club, Chess Club.

    Athletic Highlights: I run the 400, 800m, and 1600m in track and hold the school record in the 800m and 4x800m relay.  I won state in the 800m.  I'm all-state and I'm a 3-time All American.
